Jumping to Conclusions: Believing one is certain about a situation despite having little or no evidence to support it You've called home several times during deployment and haven't been able to reach your spouse. Thinking Traps are overly rigid patterns in thinking that can cause us to miss critical information about a situation or individual. Identify the Thinking Traps you tend to fall into so you can correct your thinking in the moment and avoid the traps in the future. Avoid Thinking Traps helps build Mental Agility. How do I use ATC? Describe the Activating Event objectively, identify your Thoughts, and identify your Consequences (ER: Emotions, Reactions). Our Thoughts are under our control When do I use it? Use ATC anytime you're curious about your Emotions or Reactions, when you don't like your reaction, or when you're stuck in a pattern and wearing one set of glasses. What is the skill? ATC ATC is a method to identify your Thoughts about an Activating Event and the Consequences of those Thoughts. ![]() Self-awareness ATC builds all of the MRT competencies Self-awareness is a primary target. Thoughts can be productive or counterproductive. Thoughts are what you say to yourself in the heat of the moment, or your internal radio station. The situation can be a challenge, adversity, or positive event. ATC helps to build Self-awareness An Activating Event (AE) is the who, what, when, where. How do I use Hunt the Good Stuff Write down three positive experiences from the day and write a reflection about why the good thing happened, what the good thing means to you, what you can do to enable more of the good thing, or what ways you or others contributed to the good thing. When do I use it? Hunt the Good Stuff on a regular basis in order to counteract the negativity bias. It's quite likely, as I think you suspect, that 'Strive to become an efficient and adaptive IT organisation', where strive (like try, attempt, seek) takes a to-infinitive clause thus forming a catenation, is what was intended, and that this is a malapropism.What is the skill? Hunt the Good Stuff is used to notice positive experiences to enhance optimism, gratitude, and other positive emotions. One can't say that 'Thrive! Become an efficient and adaptive IT organisation!' is ungrammatical, but it's certainly verging on the outlandish. However, the injunction 'Thrive' or 'Prosper' sounds very strange here, belonging in a religious or otherwise supernatural domain. ' is by no means unacceptable (though I'd use the -ing form 'becoming' instead here). So the sentence 'They prospered/thrived to become one of the largest. Is an example of the same king using 'thrive'.
